Ustories/ the concept
Ustories is a project of cinematographic residency for the realization of a short film site specific in Umbria.
A format developed for enhancing the job of professionals/raising artists under-35 and the territory, encouraging and reinforcing the audiovisual field.
An event aimed to constitute a creative temporary community inside the Umbrian landscape in order to facilitate social and participatory processes and nurture the film industry both locally and globally, through the knowledge and the reinterpretation of specific sights with huge historical, artistic and natural value.
The phases of the project
Ustories is shaped
intointo threethree main stages:
International Open Call
An international open call directed at young artists under 35 which leads to the selection of 5 finalist couples: Director + Screenwriter or Author + Producer. In order to encourage the work of participants, three topics will be proposed, stimulating the creative process and framing the entire event inside a common picture.
First Step Residency
A first step of 7 days cinematographic residency in Umbria for writing a screenplay which has at the story’s core a specific location with historical and art value. The work in residency allows to create an educational and creative environment which will constitute a temporary community inside the wider territory’s community. Those two communities will interact thanks to masterclass, projections and panels around cultural topics. At the end of the residency the winning screenplay will be selected by a team of experts.
Second Step Residency
The couple of the winning screenplay could access the 15.000 euro Production Prize and take part in a second step residency for the production and post production of the short site specific film.
The winning short film will be presented on occasion of Todi Festival 2022 and will be supported by the organization, according to its partnerships, also in the promotion and distribution in National and International circuits of festivals.
